White Christmas (Part 2)
On Sunday, we surveyed our handiwork:
"Red Room"
"Light Room"
Master Bed Room
Tack strips still line the perimeter of most of the bedrooms, but at least we get to see the floors in daylight. The wife thinks they already look so much better than the carpet and she's fully committed to restoring the floors. Which is good because it's going to be a ton of work and I'm already wavering when I think about how long it's going to take.
Later that morning, it started to snow and didn't let up until well into the night. We went to bed (on the hardwood floor) with a good inch on the ground.
Christmas day we spent some time mapping the electrical circuits and taking a few more measurements before starting in on the tack strips. You can tell that there were different generations of carpet and tack strips: we found tufts of a yellow-green shag near the stair landing and master bedroom and there are different generations and brands of tack strips, each with their own removal quirks. We didn't get far before it was time to head back home for work the next day.

The floors look so much better now! Can't wait to see how it all turns out. Also, snow!
